In rural Mpumalanga, South Africa, village teenager dreams of making the biggest film ever. This remains just a dream until the day his house accidentally burns down, leaving him with nothing but a camcorder retrieved from the fire.
Without any money or experience, but committed to his goal, Calvin sees a chance to make films. During the making of his amateur films, Calvin meets the girl of his dreams, moves to the big city of Johannesburg, and goes to film school.
Seven years later, he is a qualified young film director stalled on his debut film; swamped amid career and relationship difficulties. If he decides to make this movie, he will be financially stable. If he quits filmmaking he will win back his girlfriend of seven years.
The filming process itself was quite extraordinary, as most of the children in the film had never seen a film before let alone been involved in performing for stage or film. Their involvement in the shoot was totally an epic experience for them and their enthusiasm and energy is captured beautifully on screen.
